Hi, I am Jonathan, a vegan and animal lover. I am also a tutor of Spanish as a foreign language. I come from Ecuador (yes, home of the Galapagos Islands; that is right), a former Spanish colony in South America.
I have now been teaching Spanish for six years. My experience encompasses teaching Spanish to native speakers at schools in Ecuador, online tutoring to students from all over the world (mainly English speakers from the UK and US), face-to-face tutoring of Spanish GCSE and A-level students and adult learners in the Tunbridge Wells/Tonbridge area.
I graduated from the state University of Guayaquil in 2015 with a BSc in Marketing and Trade Negotiation, for which I wrote a dissertation on second language acquisition. While at University (age 22), I decided to teach myself English as I realised that the latest editions of the books that I was studying for my degree had not been translated into Spanish yet. I am also able to string a few sentences together in Italian. Through my language learning, I met my gorgeous English wife, Anna, in 2015. I then moved to the UK in 2018 where I have been living since.
Having successfully negotiated the hurdles of English, not only can I relate to the frustrations of picking up a foreign language but I also know how to overcome them and am very happy to map out my students’ language learning paths. In addition, my passion for teaching Spanish led me to create this website in Spring 2021.
